Star Wars. That’s right, just plain Star Wars. None of this “IV” or “New Hope” bullshit—just the jaw-dropping $1B grossing original… opened with an intergalactic bang on this date (May 25) in 1977. With groundbreaking CGI & the timeless struggle of good against evil, Star Wars instantly took nerds virgins audiences to “a galaxy far, far away”.
Famed fantasy & poster artists Tim & Greg Hildebrandt were given the direction to make the Star Wars poster look “comic bookish”. Completed in just thirty-six hours, the poster would become a piece of iconic artwork, and serve as a prototype for much of the Star Wars art to follow.
