The Shield, Season 7 Finale. Does anyone else feel like they just got junk-punched? FX’s The Shield has easily been one of the best cop dramas in television history—and it culminated tonight with the BEST series ending finale I have ever seen…outshining Seinfeld, M*A*S*H and [the incredibly lame] Sopranos. It was so good you hated to see it end, but the fact that it was ending it was drove it careening to the pulse-pounding finish. Holy shit, what an intense 90-minute ride.

If you’ve been squirming for all seven seasons waiting for the corrupt members of the Strike Team to finally get their comeuppance, this episode delivered—and then some. Vic Mackey’s fate was especially grim, yet poetically apropo.

Grisly, heartbreaking, unflinching, raw…ugh.
